Urban design framework (UDF) for a new town centre

The purpose of the project was to establish a framework to support a new town centre in Melbourne’s west. Designing ‘place’ and interest into new communities is central to a successful outcome. This process had to consider the overarching decisions around land use and access and movement while also articulating the detail that will create good streets and places for people. Given the long timeframes and multiple developers, the UDF also had to allow for both flexibility and specificity to encourage timely development and excellent outcomes.
